About Our Society
Celebrating Bengali culture and community in Victoria
BPCSV has been a home for Bengali families in Melbourne for decades — a place to worship, perform, celebrate and belong.
Our Story
One of the oldest Bengali organisations in Australia
The Bengali Puja & Cultural Society of Victoria (BPCSV) is one of the oldest and most vibrant organisations representing the Hindu Bengali community in Australia. What began as a small group of families gathering to celebrate Durga Puja has grown into a thriving society that welcomes hundreds of families every year.
Rooted in our constitution’s founding vision “to remain a tightly integrated, cohesive and supportive community”, we provide a growing platform where members can practise, preserve and share our rich Bengali heritage. Through sacred rituals, music, dance, theatre, literature and traditional food, we keep our traditions alive and pass them proudly to the next generation.
We are a fully volunteer‑run organisation. Every festival, every performance, every community meal is made possible by the dedication, generosity and love of our members and friends. Their contributions uphold the spirit of unity, respect and cultural pride that defines BPCSV.
Together, we celebrate our heritage. Together, we strengthen our community. Together, we build a multicultural Victoria enriched by Bengali culture.

Our Mission
Our mission is to preserve and celebrate the spiritual and cultural heritage of the Bengali Hindu community in Victoria. We strive to create a welcoming, supportive and vibrant environment where traditions are honoured, culture is expressed with pride, and future generations grow with a strong sense of identity and belonging. Through festivals, arts, community service and volunteer spirit, we strengthen unity within our community and contribute to a harmonious multicultural society.
Our Vision
A thriving, inclusive Bengali community in Victoria where tradition and creativity come together — a place where every generation feels deeply connected to its roots and confident in its future in Australia. We envision a community that celebrates its heritage with pride, supports one another with compassion, and contributes vibrantly to the multicultural fabric of Victoria.
